Gather Supplies : You’ll need a pair of small animal nail clippers or scissor-type clippers designed for small pets. Have some styptic powder or cornstarch handy to stop any bleeding in case you cut too close.
Prepare Your Sugar Glider : Gently hold your sugar glider in your hand or place them on a secure, non-slippery surface. It might be helpful to wrap them in a soft cloth to keep them still.
Examine the Nails : Sugar glider nails are small and may have a quick (a vein) visible in lighter nails. Trim only the sharp tip of the nail, avoiding the quick.
Trim Carefully : For dark nails, trim a tiny bit at a time to avoid cutting into the quick. It’s better to trim gradually and frequently rather than taking off too much at once.
Use Styptic Powder if Needed : If you accidentally cut into the quick and cause bleeding, apply styptic powder or cornstarch to the nail to stop the bleeding.
